First responders in Yonkers responded to the Saw Mill River Daylighting Park on New Main Street shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Monday, March 9, where there was a report of an overturned vehicle.

Upon arrival, police said that they found a black 2007 Acura TSX on its roof inside the park and an unresponsive 23-year-old woman with severe injuries. She was transported by paramedics to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to police, the investigation into the fatal crash determined that an allegedly intoxicated driver lost control of his vehicle and struck his victim in the park. The driver then fled the scene and he was later located at his Yonkers home, where he was placed under arrest.
